4 Awesome Outdoor Family Outings

Location Pin

Whether it's summer vacation or an extended holiday, it doesn't take long for those dreaded words, 'I'm bored!' to pop out of the mouths of kids everywhere. Let's face it, organizing enough activities to keep kids engaged for days (and days) is at best, a nightmare.

Don't stress. We've got a few awesome outdoor outings that will keep kids active and engaged... and of course, help to make those extended breaks a little less work for you too.

1. Explore your surroundings.

Most of us are creatures of habit. Home > Car > Work > Car > Home. Maybe there are a few children's activities added in. Either way, why not leave the comfort zone and get out on foot?

Take public transit. Wander around your neighborhood. Scope out new play places. If your child loves to draw, be sure to give them a sketchbook and a pen so they can document their adventure.

2. Lions & Tigers & Bears!

Your local zoo is a great day trip for the whole family. From the very young to the grandparents, zoos or local petting zoos/farms are always a hit for animal lovers.

3. History Lesson Fun

Learning can continue throughout the break, and no matter where you live, chances are there are historical monuments and museums. Whether you opt for a walking tour of San Francisco's Chinatown or take in the history at This Is the Place Heritage Park in Utah, this is another idea that the whole family can enjoy.
